Fierce hail pelted the North Coast of NSW during the afternoon of  October 22nd, 2008. Suffolk Park, where we live, was the worst hit with lots of damage. See the photos!

Our car suffered a little hail damage, but the ice on the roof caused our roof to leak.

A tawny frogmouth owl who lives in our complex, was thrown out of a tree and broke its wing. A neighbour kindly rescued it and it’s now in the care of a local vet.

The private road servicing the 19 houses in our complex was littered with golf-ball sized hail and masses of leaves from all the trees here. Our 3 papaya trees were stripped bare. Leaves were shredded, and branches were torn off tree trunks.

The local golf course looked like a snowfield, according to everyone who drove past.

Countless stories of people being scared emerged today as the storm was the talk of the town. I’ve seen lots of hailstorms but nothing like this ever.
